What makes Dr. Comfort shoes different?

Dr. Comfort shoes are specially designed to fit the diabetic foot. They feature extra width and depth in the toe box and forefoot to relieve pressure from key areas of the foot.

Who are your shoes intended for?

Our shoes were originally designed for the diabetic patient; however, non-diabetics will also benefit from wearing our products.

What shoes are recommended for my foot condition?

Dr. Comfort manufactures several different styles of shoes designed for specific foot complications. Please e-mail your fitting questions to: alvarosftwear@gmail.com

How do your shoes fit?

Dr. Comfort shoes are made according to the American Lasting Standards and should fit true to size. For more information, please feel free to call us , or  e-mail us.

How many styles do you make?

Dr. Comfort currently offers 17 different men’s styles and 19 different women’s styles in a variety of colors. Dr. Comfort is continually improving our product line, see our current collection.

What sizes are your shoes available in?

  • Our shoes are available in sizes 5 1/2 -10 & 11 in all women’s styles, with select styles available in size 10 1/2 and 12. Women’s widths range from A to EE in all styles and AA in select styles in sizes 8 - 11.

  • Men’s shoes range from 7 1/2 - 12, 13, and 14 in all styles, with select styles available in size 15. Men’s widths range from B to EEEE in all styles.

What are your shoes made of?

Dr. Comfort uses full grain leather uppers on most of the styles in our collection. The Annie, Brian, Douglas and Betty styles are made from Lycra, a breathable, stretchable material. The Lily, Justin Chestnut, Merry Jane Blue, Merry Jane Tan, LuLu Blue, Kristin Tan, and Kristin Blue styles are made from nubuck, a buffed leather similar to suede. We feature full leather linings in all of our shoes, with the exception of our athletic line which utilizes a cotton lining.

Do all your shoes fit the same?

Yes and No. Dr. Comfort uses one type of construction for all men’s shoes and two types, Euro and Standard, for ladies shoes. The material used and design of the shoe may affect the way our shoes fit your feet.

What is the difference between Euro and Standard constructed shoes?

Our Euro construction is narrower and more tapered in the toe box while our Standard construction has a generally more rounded feel.

Which styles are Euro Construction?

The styles featuring the Euro construction are: Betsy, Betty, Kristin, Lilly, Lulu, Move Spirit, Spirit Plus, Walk, Victory, and Victory Plus. All other styles feature our Standard Construction.

How do I minimize heel slippage?

The best way to minimize heel slippage is to order a lace shoe. There are different lacing techniques which can help reduce heel slippage. If Velcro closure is your only option, we suggest placing a tongue pad, available at no charge, under the tongue of the shoe to help reduce heel slippage. Dr. Comfort does not recommend the use of heel grippers, especially with diabetic patients.

Are your shoes or boots OSHA/ANSI certified?alvarosftwear@gmail.comalvarosftwear@gmail.comalvarosftwear@gmail.comalvarosftwear@gmail.comalvarosftwear@gmail.comalvarosftwear@gmail.com

Dr. Comfort shoes do not have certification from either OSHA or ANSI. Our Protector boot does meet ASTM F2412-05/ASTM F2413-05 standards.

How much do your shoes weigh?

Our shoes range in weight from 1.4 lbs. – 2.5 lbs per pair with inserts. Please see the individual style page for shoe weights.

I had never tryed P. W. Minor shoes. They are not like I thought they would be, as other I have tried I like better. It is probably the most expensive shoe I have ever bought, will probably not buy them again.

Probably the best pair of shoes I've ever bought. Wide enough but yet supportive and extremely comfortable. Good for feet with arthritis and swollen joints in the toes. To make it perfect, they look like shoes normal people would want to buy, but not like orthotics something.

I love these shoes! They are very comfortable, the leather is very soft and molds to the foot. They accommodate my ugly bunion because they have no seams that might irritate it. A bit dressier than atletic shoes but just as comfortable. I highly recommend them!

I bought these for my dad. Purchased on Saturday and delivered on Monday. Great service! The shoes fit true to size. He loves them. Easy to get on and off swollen feet. The shoes are adjustable by removing the insert for more room, and the closure allows you to tighten them up once your foot is in the shoe. Very sturdy and attractive.

I wear an AFO leg brace and needed a black shoe that was good for walking that did not look too much like a tennis shoe. This shoe is great. It is very soft leather, has plenty of room for the orthotic and is comfortable all day long. The size is accurate too.

I got them for my elderly Mom with very painful feet, especially toes and sole. She absolutely loves them! They are very comfortable and easy to get on and off. Velcro strap holds the foot stable in place. Good arch support too. She said that for the fist time she forgot that she had anything on her feet! They look a little bulky, but I think it is a small price to pay for all the comfort!

I purchased these for my father who is in a nursing home. He loves them. They are comfortable. There are easy to put on and take off. The shoe is well made. He is quite pleased and wants me to order another pair. He is very hard to find a comfortable shoe due to his orthopedic problems.

I just got these shoes in the mail and they are great! The soft sole is super comfortable and shock absorbing, they are plenty wide for my wide feet, and the toe box has plenty of room. The shipping was also super fast! I couldn\'t be happier.

I am writing an addendum to my previous review. The shoes broke in great after about 3 wears. Very comfortable now. I look forward to wearing them even when I\'m going to be active at work all day.

These are the best. The size is on target and true, the width is great and the toe box is right. There are so many wides are too wide. I highly recommend these for a casual, somewhat dressy shoe that feels very comfortable all day.

I bought these shoes in the stores, so I knew exactly what I was getting. The most comfortable walking shoe, especially with the back problems I have. A lot of support!

I ordered these shoes for my 95 year old mother-in-law. She has very wide feet with bunyons, corns, and arthritis. We have been trying to find shoes to fit her for several years and she is finally happy with her shoes. She says they are very comfortable and she likes the appearance also. We plan to order more of this brand for her.

I've had these shoes for a few months now. At first, I LOVED these shoes. The fit was wonderful. They look nice with casual clothing. But then, not long after starting to use them, The velcro would pop on one of the shoes. It didn't matter which shoe, the velcro did the same thing on both shoes, and I'd be stuck with no support. Very very scary. I've had to wear Propet sneakers for years and I never had a problem with the velcro on any of the Propet sneakers. If it weren't for the velcro problem, I'd give them 5 stars on everything.

I ordered these in desperation while waiting for bunion surgery. Not exactly a feminine, dressy style, but comfortable! They do breathe, but one's feet get a bit sweaty after an all-day wearing. The velcro strap is a bit eager to do its duty, so I have to bend it out of the way in the hope that I can get my foot into the shoe before it flops over and clings again. Great for traveling and the office, but not church or a party.

First of all, they are really cute. They are pretty stiff, and the top part across the front of the foot is almost too tight - but not intolerable. They are slightly loose in the heel. I wear them when I don?t plan to be on my feet a lot. Maybe they?ll loosen up with wear.

I found that this shoe gave me the comfort and support I needed for my 10 hour work shift. My feet are very wide (EEE) and high instep and usually the first wear is a nightmare, but I last my 10 hrs shift without any discomfort. They are not the best looking shoes, but for the purpose I need them for, they are fine and I will purchase again. Thanks Zappos!!

Comfortable and attractive. Doesn't look like an orthotic shoe and (size 10) not big looking at all. Velcro strap closure isn't obvious...which is nice! My orthotic fits perfectly.

Comfy, comfy, comfy. I have high arches, a wide front foot, a bunion & narrow back foot. I am very pleased w/ this shoe. Practical & stylish. I can?t wait to try more from this company.

Cute shoe. I have a narrow foot and sometimes the strap doesn't come up high enough, but these came too far up.

Terrific shoes! I needed shoes with little heel that are easy on, easy off. Not only do these meet my criteria, they are comfortable and arrived in just two days!
